How To Prepare Your New Door For Finishing

1) Sand the entire surface lightly using 5/0 sandpaper (180 grit) before you apply first coat of finish.
2) Make any adjustments or alignments that may be needed using a wood block or hammer.
3) Wipe dust and sand grit from door with clean cloth. Avoid using abrasive or caustic cleaners.
4) Test hang door to be sure it fits properly, then remove to finish.
 
Finishing Interior Doors

For Best Results With Clear or Stain Finish:

1) Prepare StainTru™ doors for finishing as recommended. Then give doors a base coat of presealer before staining. For best results use two clear topcoats over finish stains, sanding between coats. Finish each surface of the door, coating all edges, top, bottom, and side surfaces.

For Best Results With Paint Finish:
1) Prepare PrimeAdvantage™ doors for finishing as recommended. Then finish each surface of the door, coating all edges, top, bottom, and side surfaces with a minimum of two topcoats using either latex or solvent-base enamel.

Maintaining Your Door’s Finish

SIGNAMARK® doors have been specially crafted using the finest available materials to bring you years of lasting beauty and performance. Once you’ve applied your chosen finish you should periodically inspect your doors for wear. Doors exhibiting any signs of wear should be refurbished according to the manufacturer’s recommendations for the finish medium used.
